Diwali gets younger and better!
Diwali has always been the domain of the Khans, especially Shah Rukh. He has delivered some of the biggest hits during the festival. Thus, he is also responsible for making it one of the most lucrative periods for a film release on the calendar. Today, Diwali is a big deal thanks to him. Over the years, many of his contemporaries too have benefited from the festive fervour of the Diwali holidays. And guess now it’s time for the young guns to rise and shine. Varun Dhawan‘s Ranbhoomi will release on Diwali 2020, which is a sign that young actors are catching up with the Khans and can promise big returns just like them. Ranbir Kapoor has already proved, with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, that Diwali can be lucky for him after Saawariya, which was a Diwali release, proved to be a disaster.
Trade analyst, Akshaye Rathi, believes this is the start of a new trend. He is of the opinion that Diwali will be also about young actors and not just the Khans. He tweeted how the baton has been passed from one generation of actors to another.
He wrote, “The Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand & Dilip Kumar era.. The Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra & Rishi Kapoor era.. The Khan, Kumar, Devgn, Deol & Roshan era.. And now, @Varun_dvn @RanveerOffici al #RanbirKapoor & others are all set to carry the flag of the fraternity forward..into the future!” He is also of the opinion that it means the future of Bollywood looks bright and shiny. Check out his predictions right here…
The announcement about #Rannbhoomi on Diwali (a slot traditionally reserved for the senior superstars) 2020 marks the phase of transition that the film fraternity witnesses after every 2 decades. An indication of what & who we will see on the silver screen for the next 20 years.— Akshaye Rathi (@akshayerathi) February 19, 2018

Varun Dhawan has been performing consistently well since his debut. In fact, he is the only young actor who is yet to go experience the pain of a debacle at the box office and that says a lot about what he is capable of. Last year, he single-handedly bailed the industry out with Judwaa 2 at a time when the Khans were failing. If that doesn’t give you hope of a better Bollywood in coming years, nothing will!
