kangana ranaut is currently shooting for her upcoming period drama Manikarnika : The Queen Of Jhansi at Jaipur’s Amber Fort and if these leaked pictures are of any indication then it seems the National award winner is all set to ace this role as well. Unlike deepika padukone‘s look in Padmavati which is delicate and elegant, Kangana’s look is more fierce and formidable.
She is truly redefining royalty with that sword in her hand and that turban on her head. Let’s admit it, we all had our qualms when Kangana announced the film. After all playing a historic character that too of someone like Rani Laxmi Bai cannot be easy. But, after having seen these pics I can say I am already looking forward to watching the film.

Kangana recently got inured on the sets during a sword-fighting scene and we hear that she resumed shooting the same day after getting stitches on her forehead. Talking about her character, Kangana had told a daily, “But when you talk about Laxmibai, she was the general of an army. She was an extraordinary woman. How many battles she fought in the prime of her youth! She was like a ‘killing machine’. So it would be a shame to try to get into character superficially through clothes, make-up, hair styles and jewellery. And if you give blood to play such a woman, it’s worth it. To be honest, I’m only happy. You can’t hope to immortalise the greatest warrior of all times without having a battle scar on your face. So it’s justified.”
Written by Vijayendra Prasad, Manikarnika is a biographical drama about Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. He has penned blockbusters like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan.’ He had earlier mentioned in an interview that war scenes will be the biggest highlight of Kangana’s film. The film also marks television actor Ankita Lokhande’s Bollywood debut. She will be playing Jhalkari Bai, a woman soldier in Rani Laxmi Bai’s army who fought as her body double against the British. The film is expected to hit the theaters on April 27, 2018.
