Deepika Padukone talks about the hype around her unibrow in Padmavati

Padmavati Marks The Third Collaboration Of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer Singh And Deepika Padukone

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated magnum opus Padmavati is grabbing every possible limelight thanks to its larger than life sets, distinct characterisation of the lead stars and the superb music and background score. Deepika Padukone portrays the titular character of Rani Padmini and her look in the film is a breath of fresh air as she flaunts a unibrow and a dusky skin tone.

When asked whether she has received any negative comments about her look, deepika replied, “In fact, I read some amazing articles that said how we turned beauty and changed its definition. It’s high time we did that. As women, we have been conditioned to think a certain way. I am glad with what we did with Padmavati and my look. It takes an immense amount of belief for all of us to take that risk, in a sense because that is not how the audience is conditioned. Padmavati’s beauty is beyond the physical beauty. It is her soul, her spirit, it is what she meant to her people. She is worshipped and we have to give her that due and this movie is that. Keeping all that in mind – courage, power and all of it”.

She further added, “Some of them have picked up the unibrow and the skin tone. But the beauty is so much more. You will understand when you see the movie. For me, she is hugely inspiring”.

Padmavati marks the third collaboration of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ranveer singh and Deepika Padukone (The trio has earlier worked in blockbusters like Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani). The period drama, which also stars shahid kapoor in a key role, will be released in 2D and 3D formats on December 1.
