It’s OFFICIAL! Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s fantasy film will be called Brahmastra; to release in August 15, 2019

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is on an announcement spree! Yesterday Karan Johar confirmed that his collaboration with Akshay Kumar is now called Kesari and it will release in Holi 2019. Then he also confirmed the release date of Alia Bhatt’s Raazi, co-starring Vicky Kaushal, which will happen on May 11, 2018. And now, he has announced a biggie!

Remember the movie Dragon, that was to star Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt and was to be directed by Ayan Mukerji? Well, the name has changed and it will be now known as Brahmastra. It will be the first of the trilogy series planned, and will release on August 15, 2019, thus booking itself the Independence Day Weekend. The movie will also have Amitabh Bachchan in the star cast, and since it is Big B’s birthday, the announcement seems apt. This is what Karan Johar had captioned, when he made the announcement, “A TRILOGY …A FANTASY ADVENTURE….A LABOUR OF LOVE…..”BRAHMĀSTRA”. Dharma Productions’ caption read, “#BRAHMĀSTRA #AyanMukerji’s next venture starring @SrBachchan, #RanbirKapoor & @aliaa08. 15 Aug 2019 @karanjohar @foxstarhindi #NamitMalhotra”.

Alia Bhatt couldn’t contain her excitement on getting this announcement, as she tweeted,

Ranbir Kapoor, who is going through a lean box office phase with none of his movies since Besharam working out, can rely on good friend Ayan Mukerji to bail him out. After all, he has done two movies with the young director and both, Wake Up Sid! and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, were hits. In fact, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is, in fact, Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest hit till date. Also Alia Bhatt is having a golden run at the box office with her last movie, Badrinath Ki Dulhania also entering the Rs 100 crore club. Let’s hope both Alia and Ayan work in the favour of Ranbir.

Now let’s wait for Karan Johar to announce the complete cast of Abhisek Varman’s movie (Earlier known as Shiddat)!
