the soundtrack of golmaal again lives up to festive spirit of the movie, and has a couple of numbers that are pure fun, especially the title track and maine tujhko dekha.

Golmaal Again is one of the two major Bollywood films releasing this Diwali, the other being Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar. The fourth movie in the blockbuster Golmaal franchise, the movie stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Parineeti Chopra, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu in the lead. The album of GOLMAAL AGAIN is already out and it has four songs – two composed by Amaal Mallik, while S Thaman and Lijo George-Dj Chetas compose one each. Here’s our review of the soundtrack.

Golmaal Title Track

It’s but natural to expect the album to start with the new version of the golmaal track. So how is it compared to the three versions of the title track that came earlier? Though I still have a soft corner for the one composed by Vishal-Shekhar in the original movie, the new version is spunky and fun, thanks to S Thaman’s lively score and Brijesh Shandilya and Aditi Singh Sharma’s infectious energy behind the mic.

Maine Tujhko Dekho

I am not a huge fan of recreating old songs for the new generation. But if I set my prejudices aside, Maine Tujhko Dekha is quite catchy, hummable, making you hum the song without you even realising it. The talented Amaal Mallik has used the hook-line of the Ishq song, Neend Churayi Meri, which was picturised on Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla and Kajol, to make a very likable new version that doesn’t ruin the spirit of the original. It is great to hear Neeraj Sridhar (of Bombay Vikings fame) again after a really long time, and he gets some good company in Sukriti Kakkar.

Itna Sannata Kyun Hai

The fusion number Itna Sannata Kyun Hai is a unique song when it comes to the album, as it is a dance number that uses trance, EDM, hip hop as well as some spooky elements. Quite living up to the theme of the movie, Itna Sannata Kyun Hai is composed by Lijo George- DJ Chetas, while Amit Kumar and Aditi Singh Sharma has sung this song. Also watch out for the scarily funny lyrics by Kumaar.

Hum Nahi Sudhrenge

Hum Nahi Sudhrenge has Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu swearing many times that they will continue to be no good. Having seen the video, it looks like a party number picturised at someone’s birthday in front of the haweli-like orphanage where the gang comes to stay. Perhaps this could be the last song in the movie as it is kinda similar to ‘Ab Toh Har Pal Aise Jiyo’ from Golmaal Returns. Armaal Malik has sung this pleasant song, composed by Amaal Mallik.

Our verdict

The soundtrack of Golmaal Again lives up to festive spirit of the movie, and has a couple of numbers that are pure fun, especially the title track and Maine Tujhko Dekha. Even Itna Sannata Kyun Hai and Hum Nahi Sudhrenge have the potential to pick up, if the movie clicks with the audience.

Our picks
