Sonam Kapoor - Anand Ahuja are set to tie the knot on May 8.
After speculations aplenty and fuelling rumours mills about a certain wedding between Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, the news has now been made official. In an announcement on behalf of the Kapoors and Ahujas, the wedding is now confirmed – “The Kapoor and Ahuja families, take great joy and pride, in announcing the marriage of Sonam and Anand. The wedding will take place on the 8th of May in Mumbai. Since it is an intimate affair, we request you to respect the family’s need for privacy. Thank you for all your blessings and love, as we celebrate this special moment in our lives.” It ‘s finally happening. Four days ago, it was we who first informed you about the wedding date. Only a week to go. We are down to the wire. Celebrations have begun! While we count the days to Sonam and Anand’s big fat wedding, let us give you all the details you need to know before the BIG day!
Big Day
The wedding will take place on May 8 at Sonam Kapoor’s aunt – Kavita Singh’s Bandra bungalow. It is believed to be a heritage bungalow with the view of the Ocean. It is expected to be an intimate affair attended by close family and friends.
Mehendi, Sangeet, Reception
While some say the Mehendi ceremony will take place at her home, some reports suggest, the Mehendi ceremony is expected to take place at her Aunt’s residence, the same venue as the wedding.
The Sangeet that is going to be one big grand affair. It is expected to be a starry affair with crackling performances by many – Karan Johar will be performing to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Farah Khan is choreographing the number. Janhvi Kapoor, as we revealed to you is performing to Sridevi’s song – Mere Haaton Main Nau Nau Chudiyaan hain. Arjun Kapoor is also expecting to put an epic performance. Practice sessions have already begun with Farah Khan taking over the choreography. Sonam’s residence is already decked up. All in all, the sangeet is going to be a grand celebration. It will reportedly take place at a Five Star Hotel. The reception that will follow is also expected to take place in a plush five-star hotel.
E- Invites only
The couple had made a decision on only making e-invites because they believed in Paper conservation. “Both Sonam and Anand believe in paper conservation. They believe that wedding cards mean a lot of waste of paper. Hence they have asked their families to not print any invitation cards. Instead, they have designed an elegant E-invite together which will be sent to their friends and relatives on their phones.” revealed a source exclusively to us.
Who is wearing what?
The ultimate fashionista is set to tie the knot so all eyes are going to be on her outfit. Guess who will be designing her outfit? None other than Anamika Khanna. She has always been seen in many of her creations at Cannes, so it’s no surprise that Anamika will be designing the clothes for the big day. We can’t wait!
Not a Destination wedding
We revealed to you exclusively how the couple had decided to NOT have a destination wedding because of Sonam’s grandmother. “Yes, the initial plan was to have a destination wedding but it’s because of Sonam’s grandmother that they decided to change the venue and keep it somewhere close to their residence. Sonam’s grand mom can’t travel that far and the family obviously feels her presence is more important than the destination.”
