The year belongs to Deepika Padukone!
After featuring as the only Bollywood actress in the Times 1oo Most Influential list, Deepika Padukone couldn’t have asked for a better year. With Padmaavat’s great success at the box office and this new honour recently, DP is literally on a roll. The actress was clicked at the airport last night as she left to attend the Times 1oo gala which is being held in New York this week. Wearing a Burberry jacket and a sweatshirt with loose jeans and brown shoes, Deepika’s recent airport appearance was a drab instead of fab. The actress who is known for making some stunning statements at the airport and turn the runway into a ramp, surprisingly disappointed us with her latest outing, but we tend to ignore it. The reason for which she’s flying was important and the actress needs to be appreciated for that.
Deepika made us immensely proud when she was featured as the only actress in the list of Times 100 Most Influential people. The announcement came in on April 19 and it was a big thing for the actress. Not only has she made us proud, but also the millions of Indians residing across the world. Several people and celebrities congratulated her on this achievement, including her co-star and good friend Priyanka Chopra.
Deepika’s co-star from xXx – Return of Xander Cage, Vin Diesel had some beautiful lines to say about this reel life Queen and his words just melted our hearts. They were supposed to collaborate for Furious 7, but destiny had other plans. Vin recalled the same in his opening for the piece he wrote for the actress. “As soon as she entered the room, there was a synchronicity, a synergy, a chemistry it promised great things to come. Her schedule didn’t work for that movie, but I never gave up. She was the first role we cast in xXx: Return of Xander Cage,” he revealed. He also added that Deepika agreed to work in the film only on the condition that he will visit India. “Thank God I made that deal,” he added. Vin further wrote, “Anyone could talk about how beautiful she is, and anyone could tell you about her unmatched comedic timing. But she isn’t just a star. She s an actor’s actor, dedicated to the craft.” Concluding his piece with some powerful words, he wrote, “So often in the entertainment industry we deal in stereotypes, and people get stuck in certain markets. Deepika is the best Earth has to offer. She’s not just here to represent India; she’s here to represent the world.”
Recently, there were also reports about Deepika starring in the fourth film from the xXx franchise. So during her NYC visit, chances are high she might sign on the dotted lines for the sequel to Xander Cage that goes on floors in December. We now wait for an official announcement.
