Mohanlal's new still from Odiyan will haunt you for the rest of the week.

Malayalam’s celebrated star Mohanlal is currently in the most exciting phase of his career. He is dabbling in multiple projects that have him play distinct characters in each of them. One of the most intriguing projects of them all is without a doubt – Odiyan. The film is based on a tribal community that used to live in the Palakkad- Malabar region of kerala. They were known to be shape shifting creatures who made a living by scaring people. Mohanlal will play Odiyan Manikkan, the last surviving member of this now extinct tribe. With its first motion poster, the movie already gave us a glimpse of its eerie theme. But it’s the latest still that is giving us goosebumps. It features a younger looking Mohanlal with a cloth over his head and an intent, eerie look in his eyes. This still speaks volumes of what’s to come. To think, this is just the beginning to this dark drama.

Mohanlal went through a drastic transformation for this film because he was required to play a younger version of himself. This movie will revolve primarily around his character. It’s about Odiyan and his need to return home because of unavoidable circumstances. The film will mark the debut of Sreekumar Menon. The movie will also star powerful performers like Manju Warrier, Sathyaraj, Prakash Raj. What makes this film even more interesting is that it’s set in the pre-electricity era. The film is set to release in October this year.

In other news, Neerali will be Mohanlal’s first release this month. The film is expected to release this June. He is also shooting for  Kayamkulam Kochunni, a film based on a renowned highwayman. The movie also stars Nivin Pauly. Mohanlal will reportedly play his Kochunni’s close confidante – Ithikkara Pakki.  Above all, the actor is reportedly expected to begin shooting for the epic drama – Mahabharata later this year.
