Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte's PadMan has had an impressive run at the worldwide box office over the first weekend!
Not only has PADMAN had an amazing first weekend in the domestic market, but looks like Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte’s film has also had a tremendous run at the worldwide box office. We already know that the film has grossed Rs 51 crore (Rs 40 crore nett) in the domestic market. Add to that the Rs 4.90 crore it earnt at the American ticket window and the box office collections from UAE, Australia, New Zealand and UK. You will realise that PadMan has nearly hit the Rs 60 crore mark in just 3 days at the worldwide market. Talking about the detailed box office collections, trade analyst and industry tracker – Ramesh Bala mentioned on Twitter, “Official #Padman box office figures from @SonyPictures. 1st Weekend: #India – Gross – $7.9 Million [Rs 51 crore] #NorthAmerica – Gross – $760,000 [Rs 4.90 crore]. Worldwide (5 Mkts) – Gross – $8.9 Million [Rs 57.50 crore].”
Considering the niche subject and the limited overseas release, we have to say that Padmanhas performed well. In fact, even with the competition from several Hollywood releases, it has held its ground and raked in a decent amount of money. All this is obviously courtesy Akshay’s stardom, the engaging storyline, the touching message and much more. The word of mouth publicity that developed after the audience and the critics gave it a thumbs up, has also helped PadMan rake in the moolah at the worldwide box office.
We expect the PadMan to continue raking in the moolah and cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide market in a couple of days. However, with several Hollywood and Bollywood releases this Friday, Akshay Kumar’s film will surely face stiff competition.
