Aksay Kumar's Pad Man is expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the opening weekend.
After a grand period drama on 26th January, the world welcomed a unique social drama with much aplomb the following week on February 9th. The film was about a man who invented low-cost pads for the sake of menstrual hygiene. Hence the name – Pad Man, an unusual superhero whose simple yet grand idea saves the day for women. The movie opened to a grand release worldwide on Feb 9th. As per the Day 1 box office figures, the movie has collected Rs 10.26 crore. But as per reports on Indian Express, the film’s collection is expected to grow as people will throng to theatres in larger numbers. In fact, the film might just cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the opening weekend itself! That’s no longer a rare feat for Akshay Kumar who has witnessed a winning streak for a while now.
Pad Man happens to be Sonam Kapoor’s second highest opening after PRDP. The movie also stars Radhika Apte who has received rave reviews for her stellar performance. The movie is directed by R Balki and marks Twinkle Khanna’s debut into production. Interestingly, the film is based on a story that was part of her book.
