The Nivin Pauly and Trisha starrer Hey Judeopened in theatres yesterday, and it has been getting mixed to positive reviews from the critics. The musical romance film is directed by Shyamaprasad and written by Nirmal Sahadev and George Kannat. While some are really impressed, some are disappointed. Check out as to what the critics had to say…

Manoj Kumar R of The Indian Express gave the movie 2.5 stars and wrote, “At the end of Hey Jude, I had mixed feelings. While director-writer Shyamaprasad has created pleasant characters in the backdrop of a breezy Goa, he takes his own sweet time to establish the problems of Jude and other characters in the film. In parts, Shyamaprasad has overstretched the narration even as there was not enough material to support him. A crisp editing may have helped this film become more engaging.”

On the contrary, Priyanka Sundar of Hindustan Times seemed a little more impressed and gave 3.5 stars. She wrote, “The cinematography by Girish has added more value to the film and has even sets the moods in some scenes. The music, by five different composers, is memorable, especially the song, Rock Your Worries Away. This is just the film which will help you achieve that mind frame.”

Deepika Jayaram of Times Of India giving three star to movie, wrote, “Shyamaprasad takes a different itinerary with this film, which is a celebration of life in itself. Nivin gives an earnest effort to play Jude and his unique way of speech makes him an endearing character indeed. Watching Trisha as Crystal makes you feel that she has always been there in Malayalam films and she is seen at ease playing the character. A different side of actor Siddique is seen as the money-minded Dominic and Neena Kurup essays the doting mother. The songs composed by Ouseppachan, Gopi Sunder, Rahul Raj and M Jayachandran aptly match the narrative. The cinematography is such that the surreal locales of Goa coupled with a feel-good narrative gives the message that life is what you make of it, and each moment is worth celebrating. That said, the turn out of events is something that many can easily predict.”
