Yay! Yennai Arindhaal to have a sequel.

Director Gautham Vasudev Menon has said that he will meet Thala Ajith in next five months for a possible sequel to his cop film Yennai Arindhaal. “Right from the beginning, we had plans to make a sequel to Yennai Arindhaal if the film performs well at the box office and people like Ajith‘s character. I’m planning to approach Ajith with a full bound script of Yennai Arindhaal in the next five months,” said Gautham Menon in a recent interaction.

Yennai Arindhaal starred Ajith in the role of a police officer named Sathyadev. Although the film didn’t meet the box-office expectations of stakeholders, it was unanimously appreciated by everyone for Ajith’s earnest performance. The movie also starred Trisha Krishnan and Anushka Shetty as female leads. Yennai Aridhaal also provided a major breakthrough for Arun Vijay, who played the role of villain in the film.

Ajith is currently gearing up for the shooting of Viswasam, which marks his fourth association with director Siva after Veeram, Vedalam, and Vivegam. The lead heroine for Viswasam is not finalized yet although there are reports that Anushka Shetty is in talks for the film. The formal pooja for the film will be conducted in the city soon.

Earlier, Yuvan Shankar Raja was reported to compose music for the film. Now, sources say Yuvan has opted out of the film and subsequently, the team held talks with Vikram Vedha composer Sam CS and Anirudh Ravichander, who scored the music for Vedalam and Vivegam. Sam CS, a few days back, took to Twitter page and said he was waiting for a response from the team.
