Murugadoss is teaming up with Rahman after their previous blockbuster Hindi film Ghajini
Following the blockbuster success of Mersal, AR Rahman has officially come on board Thalapathy 62 with Thalapathy Vijay and AR Rahman. The movie marks AR Rahman’s fourth collaboration with Vijay after Azhagia Tamil Magan, Udhaya, and Mersal. Sources say that the blockbuster success of Mersal has made Vijay and AR Murugadoss sign Rahman for Thalabathy 62. It must be noted that Aalapporaan Thamizhan from Mersal has topped all chats including YouTube and all popular streaming platforms like Saavn.
Directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Sun Pictures, Thalapathy 62 is expected to start shooting from the first week of February. The team has still not finalized the lead heroine for the project, which is likely to be wrapped up in six months. Earlier, Keerthy Suresh was the leading choice to play the female lead. Now, the team is reportedly in talks with a few actresses to essay the role.
Murugadoss is teaming up with Rahman after their previous blockbuster Hindi film Ghajini which starred Aamir Khan and Asin as leads. The movie’s album too was a superb hit across all popular stations and platforms.
Girish Gangadharan will wield the camera for the film, marking his debut in Tamil film industry. He is best known for his work in Malayalam films such as Kali, Angamaly Diaries. He also helmed the camera for one of the four characters in Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo.
Vijay’s Mersal is the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2017 and Thalapathy’s first movie to enter the Rs. 250 crore club. It is also the third straight Tamil film to gross Rs. 250 crores after Kabali and Enthiran. So, the expectations from the fans are high on Thalapathy 62 which is Vijay and ARM’s third film after Thuppakki and Kaththi.
