As Deepika completes 10 years in Bollywood today, we take a look at roles that made her the actress who can be banked upon…

Goliyon Ki Rasleela…Ram-Leela

Deepika Padukone delivered a feisty and enthusiastic performance in romantic crime drama film. Her robust character was one of the highlights of Ram-Leela. The actress also went on to bag Filmfare Best actress award for her powerful role.

Piku

Deepika portrayed the character of an eccentric architect in the film and proved that she can deliver a great performance even if the script doesn’t portray her as a femme fatale or royalty. The actress won her second Filmfare award in the Best Actress category for this film.

Bajirao Mastani

In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, Deepika essayed the role of a warrior-princess with utmost sincerity. Right from sword-fighting scenes to showcasing her dancing skills, Deepika nailed her character with aplomb.

Cocktail

Deepika Padukone rocked the character of Veronica in Homi Adajania’s cocktail. The fact that she is the one cheated in the end, also fetched her some sympathy votes from the audience. But apart from that, her portrayal of the headstrong girl, who cares a damn about the world, was bang-on.

Tamasha

In Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha, Deepika played the role of Tara, who discovers Ved’s alter-ego, falls in love with it and refuses to forget him. She pursues him first and then persuades him to follow his dream. The actress played her part very beautifully and made her character relatable to the audience.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Deepika played the character of Naina Talvar in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, with complete conviction. Her onscreen chemistry with Ranbir and transformation from simple and innocent to hot and sensational was completely mind blowing.

Love Aaj Kal

The character of Meera in Love Aaj Kal was very complex but Deepika completely slipped into the role to make it her own. Right from romantic scenes to the heartbreaking sequence – Deepika convinced us completely.

Chennai Express

We can’t imagine anyone apart from Deepika in the funny-yet-lovable character of Meenamma in Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express. The dialogue delivered in the heavy Tamil accent soon became all the rage among the masses.

Finding Fanny

Finding Fanny is one of Deepika’s most underrated performances. The actress played Angie with proper sensibilities without going over-the-top in any scene.

Om Shanti Om

Though Om Shanti Om was Deepika’s debut film, her confident act and great screen presence garnered huge praise. She also won the Best Debut award for her beautiful performance.
