Omung Kumar’s upcoming film Bhoomi, starring Sanjay Dutt, is set to hit theatres on August 4, next year. The film, which is made under the banner of Bhushan Kumar led T-Series, will see the 57-year-old actor for the first time on the big screen after he completed his jail term.
“I am right now preparing for the role. It’s time for me to go into hibernation till I start the shoot early next year. Really looking forward to being back where I belong – in front of the camera,” Dutt said. The film is an emotional revenge drama, that revolves around the relationship between a father and daughter. “As a director it is going to be a challenge given that we have a tight schedule, but that’s what excites me about filmmaking. I think deadlines work for my creative instinct,” Kumar said.
Kumar last directed Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer Sarbjit. Dilip Kumar’s grand niece Sayyeshaa Saigal will play the role of Sanjay Dutt’s daughter in revenge drama Bhoomi, which marks the comeback of Sanjay Dutt. According to the sources, Sayyeshaa has been signed for the film as the makers thought she aptly fits the role. Sayyeshaa recently made her Bollywood debut with Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay, which did really well at the box-office irrespective of having a festive weekend release and a major competition from Karan Johar’s directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
“She will play the daughter… Her role is quite interesting and good. She will most likely start shooting next year in January. But before the shoot she will have workshops,” sources said. Bhoomi is an emotional, revenge drama that centers around the relationship between a father and daughter. It will go on the floors next year and will be shot extensively in Uttar Pradesh.
