Game of Thrones' total wins in Emmys tallied to now 38 wins, beating Frasier's 37 sins. So that makes the biggest television show in the world the most awarded show in Emmys' history.

When they announced that Game of Thrones was the best drama series at the recently concluded Emmy awards, we were elated but not surprised at all. And neither were the makers or the rest of the nominees. For Game of Thrones was always touted to win huge at the ceremony. It also helped matters that the best series of the year, The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story was nominated for limited series and not in the drama category. However the show did not win any of the performance related awards, even though few of its stars like Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams and Kit Harrington were nominated. Peter Dinklage usually wins when he is nominated, but in the last season, he had nothing much to do except make jokes and drink, so it was a surprise that he was even nominated.

The Game of Thrones won most of the main and technical categories like best series, best writing, best direction et al. David Benioff and DB Weiss took home two awards – one for Best Drama Series and one for Best Writing in the Drama category. The show also bagged the Outstanding Directing award for a drama series for its famous episode – The Battle of the Bastards. With these wins, Game of Thrones’ total wins in Emmys tallied to now 38 wins, beating Frasier’s 37 sins. So that makes the biggest television show in the world the most awarded show in Emmys’ history.
