Shashi Kapoor's demise makes Rishi Kapoor fly back to Mumbai.

The ailing veteran actor shashi kapoor passed away on Monday evening. It’s a sad day for Bollywood. One of B-Town’s most towering personalities Shashi Kapoor passed away on Monday evening. The veteran Bollywood star was 79. The actor was hospitalised for chest infection a few days back at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital where he breathed his last today. His nephew Rishi Kapoor who was shooting in Delhi has left his shoot midway to be with the family.

Shashi Kapoor’s health has been a major concern for the whole Kapoor khandaan, especially in the last few years. The actor had not been keeping well for sometime. The news about his death spread and Rishi ji who is currently not in the city, rushed from the sets of his film to head back to Mumbai.

Rishi was stationed in Delhi where he’s currently shooting for Leena Yadav’s Rajma Chawal. The moment he heard the shocking news of Shashi Kapoor’s death, he informed the team and left the shoot to be with the whole family. Everyone else from the Kapoor family too are expected to reach Shashi ji’s house soon. It’s indeed another dark day for the industry. Our condolences to the whole family.

Shashi Kapoor has been a pioneer in putting Indian cinema on the global map. Apart from starring in several noteworthy films like Deewar, Waqt, Suhana Safar, Sharmelee, Kabhi Kabhi, Kala Pathar, he was also the first A-list Bollywood actor to become the first Indian Hollywood crossover star. 1963’s The Householder was his first international project followed by Heat and Dust which released 20 years after his first. He also played a pivotal character in Pierce Brosnan starrer The Deceivers. Kapoor also started the legendary Prithvi theatre which has now become a place of attraction for theatre lovers and budding artistes.
