Anees Bazmee, who is directing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, opened up on whether Akshay Kumar will have a special appearance in the film.
Anees Bazmee reveals if Akshay Kumar will be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Akshay Kumar, who played the role of a psychiatrist in Priyadarshan's directorial venture Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), is expected to have a special appearance in its sequel, if reports are to be believed. The sequel stars Kartik Aaryan in the lead role.
In an interview, Anees Bazmee, who is helming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, recently opened up on the rumours about Akshay being a part of the film.
"I think yeh thoda sa early ho jaayega mujhe yeh bolna because already hum log abhi work kar rahe hain and dekhiye kya hota hai. (I think it's too early for me to say anything about the rumour. We are still working on the script. Let's see)." Bazmee said.
Bazmee, who has worked with Akshay Kumar in films like Welcome (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008) and Thank You (2011), added that he shares a great relationship with him.
Without revealing the details of Akshay's collaboration in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the director said, "Akshay ji ke saath bahut saari filmein ki hain. Welcome, Singh Is Kinng badi khoobsurat yaadein rahin hain. We have a great relationship. Mujhe bhi bahut khushi hogi agar woh honge and unka bhi yeh hai ki koi na koi film mein zaroor judna hai. Toh abhi mujhe lagta hai thoda sa early hoga bolna but let's hope for the best. (I have done a lot of films with Akshay Kumar. Have great memories of shooting Welcome and Singh Is Kinng. We share a great relationship. I'll be very happy if he is there in the film and too feels the same. So, right now I think it's too early to talk about it. Let's hope for the best.)"
When asked if Kartik's rumoured girlfriend Sara Ali Khan will be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bazmee clarified, "Nahi, abhi hum wo final kar rahe hain. Abhi sirf Kartik hai (No, we are still finalising the rest of the cast. Only Kartik is there till now.)"
Recently, Kartik Aaryan, who is stepping into Akshay's shoes in the sequel, took to Instagram to share the first look poster with his fans. He wrote, "Ghostbuster is all set to enter Hare Ram Hare Ram Hare Krishna Hare Ram #Bhoolbhulaiyaa2
In an earlier interview with Mumbai Mirror, Kartik, who claims to be Akshay Kumar's fan, said that taking the film franchise forward is a great responsibility.
He said, "I'm looking forward to collaborating with Bhushanji ( producer Bhushan Kumar) again. Bhool Bhulaiyaa has always been one of my favourite comedic supernatural thriller film and now being part of BB2 (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2) makes me happy, especially because I've been a big fan of Akshay Kumar sir. It is a great responsibility to take his franchise forward. It's a hilarious script and Anees sir has taken it to another level. I'm also looking forward to working with Murad bhai ( producer Murad Khetani)."
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is scheduled to be released on July 31, 2020.
Twelve years ago, director Priyadarshan brought film Bhool Bhulaiyaa to the big screens. The horror comedy had an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel in key roles. Now after more than a decade, Priyadarshan has passed the torch to filmmaker Anees Bazmee for its sequel.
The critically-acclaimed film became a huge success at the box office in 2007.
Priyadarshan's film was the sixth highest domestic grosser of that time.
