The teaser of Sanju is here and it has managed to get everyone talking

We still remember when the biopic on Sanjay Dutt was only announced, and many had disagreed with the casting. However, after the first set of pictures from the sets made their way to social media, everyone was shocked. Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Bollywood’s Baba in the film, seemed to have not only imbibed his persona, but also managed to look exactly like him. So just like Ranbir took everyone by surprise back then, he did the same with the first poster and teaser of Sanju (the official title of the biopic) that have been dropped today. Considering Sanjay’s life has been so controversial, we were expecting the teaser to be a bit dark, but then ace filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has added his signature humorous touch to it, making it one of the best teasers to come out in a long time.

In the one-and-a-half minute video, we get to see many aspects of Sanjay’s life – right from his initial days in the industry to the time he spent in the jail. Kudos to make-up artists of the film for doing such an outstanding job. And obviously, to Ranbir, for duplicating Dutt’s body language and mannerisms beautifully. To make you believe that the resemblance is very uncanny, we decided to decode the teaser of Sanju by showing you the real and reel Sanjay Dutt in one frame. Here are the results:

This look of Ranbir is from Sanjay’s debut film, Rocky, which had released in 1981.

This is the picture from April 19, 1993, when Sanjay Dutt was arrested under TADA and the Arms Act for his role in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. He was released on bail on May 5.

And this is from the days when he started to build his body after coming out of the jail in 1993.

And this was the time when he was doing gangster dramas like Kaante (2002), Plan (2004) among others.

This is his look from the film, which changed his career. Munnabhai MBBS was directed by Rajkumar Hirani, who has directed Sanju.

In 2013, when Sanjay was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, he lived in a 8x10ft (2.4m x 3m) cell of Yerwada Jail and wore the white uniform of prisoners. Officers said that Dutt would wake up at six in the morning, take a shower, after which he would be served tea and breakfast. The jail staff would then bring him material to make bags from newspapers. He would spend most of his mornings working, earning Rs 45 for making 100 bags.

Owing to his good behaviour and positive activities like running a radio programme, he was granted a remission of 144 days. On February 25, 2016 Sanjay walked out of Yerwada Jail as a free man after completing his jail term.

Here’s the teaser of Sanju if you haven’t watched already:

Tell us if you are blown away with the pictures. Sanju is scheduled to release on June 29. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Karishma Tanna, Jim Sarbh, Paresh Rawal and Boman Irani.
