Samantha Ruth Prabhu is looking beautiful as Madhuravani in Mahanati, which is a biopic on actress Savitri’s life. She plays a journalist, who narrates the story in the film. Savitri was one of the finest actress of her times and the film chronicles her life. The film will release in Tamil and Telugu on May 9. Samantha was earlier rumoured to play Jamuna, Savitri’s closest friend, but now we know she is instead playing a journalist. The film has Dulquer Salmaan playing Gemini Ganesan and Savitri’s husband. According to reports, their marriage was not made public until the actress used Savitri Ganesh as her signature while giving out autographs. That’s because he was already married with two kids and was involved in an affair as well. Rumours also suggest that Anushka Shetty also plays a crucial character of Bhanumathie. Legend has it that every film rejected by her used to go to Savitri, who became a superstar because of that. 

Interestingly, Samantha’s husband Naga Chaitanya also has a part to play in the film. He will play the role of his own grandfather Akkineni Nageswara Rao. He had worked with Savitri in several films. Their off-screen relationship was also the talk of the town. Director Nag Ashwin, had also mentioned in an interview with Firstpost, that Jr NTR is being considered to play his grandfather and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Well, Mahanati is easily the biggest multi-starrer of recent times which such popular actors coming together in a single film. That’s the thing about making films on film industries. You get to see a plethora of actors in just one movie.
