Here's why Ranbir Kapoor's Sanjay Dutt biopic was titled Sanju, rather than Dutt!

Sanjay Dutt‘s biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor has been in the news since a while now. Not only are people eagerly waiting to see the movie, but they have been very inquisitive about the title too. From Dutt to Dutt’s The Way to Sanju, a lot of titles were rumoured to be in the running. However the makers did not confirm or deny either of them. Apparently, director Rajkumar Hirani, Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and the producers were confused on which title should they use for the film. They wanted it to be very apt and hence took their time. And now, we can officially confirm that Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanjay Dutt biopic has been titled Sanju and Rajkumar Hirani reveals why he went ahead with this name.

While talking to DNA After Hrs, Hirani revealed, “Actually, we thought of many titles. One of them was Aisa Hi Hoon. Anything you attach with a name in a biopic is like an adjective. Even if you say Aisa Hi Hoon or Sarphira, either you are glorifying him or attacking him. One thing all of us were clear about was that we wanted a neutral title. Dutt seemed a little harsh. Then I heard a gem from him. Apparently, Nargisji used to call him ‘Sanju’ with a lot of affection.
