Here's an exclusive update on Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding...
Much before the news of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s Mumbai wedding hit the web, rumours were rife that the couple is planning to have a lavish destination wedding. Places like Switzerland and London were believed to be on their wishlist, where some even suggested how the couple is keen on getting married in London considering it’s their favourite destination. Then what made the two change their mind suddenly and shift their wedding venue to Mumbai? Is it because of the family?
Reveals an insider, “Yes, the initial plan was to have a destination wedding but it’s because of Sonam’s grandmother that they decided to change the venue and keep it somewhere close to their residence. Sonam’s grand mom can’t travel that far and the family obviously feels her presence is more important than the destination.” That way, Mumbai will also be convenient for other guests given that majority of them are either from Mumbai or Delhi.
While Sonam and Anand are yet to announce the wedding date, our sources confirm they are getting married in the first week of May, most likely on May 6. Speaking of which, the Sangeet preparations too have already begun at the Kapoor household with Farah Khan choreographing the performances. “Rehearsals have kicked off at Anil Kapoor’s Juhu bungalow. The doting dad and mom Sunita will be putting together a special act for the bride-to be at the sangeet. Sonam’s cousins and extended family have joined in as well for the pre-wedding ceremony. They will perform on her hit songs like the Veere… title track, Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai from the Fawad Khan co-starrer Khoobsurat, the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo title track, and Dheere Dheere from her music video with Hrithik Roshan, among others, besides other popular wedding songs,” says a source close to Mumbai Mirror.
