They have reportedly approached the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce to get a NOC for Censor

Last month, the makers of Rajinikanth‘s Kaala Karikaalan took the internet by storm when they officially announced the release date of the gangsta drama to be Apil 27. However with the ongoing strike in Kollywood due to The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) calling for a complete shutdown in their war against Digital Service Providers (DSP)s, the release of the film on the slated date went in jeopardy. In fact, there have been no new Tamil releases since March 1, and everything from shooting to post-production, audio, trailer and new film launches has come to a halt. However the makers are Kaala are not ready to give up. To ensure their film does not suffer due to the strike, they have approached the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce to get a NOC for Censor. The outcome of this will be known in due time. Meanwhile, the film has managed to earn Rs 75 crore way ahead of its release from the satellite rights. But despite such a lucrative deal, it could not beat the money amassed by the satellite rights deal 2.0. Set in the backdrop of Mumbai, Kaala Karikaalan is based on the story of a powerful don from Dharavi. Rajinikanth will be seen sporting a kurta, mundu along with his signature Kabali salt n pepper look. His massy avatar has already created a furore among fans. The movie will also star Huma Qureshi and Nana Patekar. The film marks Rajinikanth’s second collaboration with Pa. Ranjith. They last collaborated for Kabali.
