He looks so much like his father

This is proving to be a rather eventful weekend for South Indian movie buffs. In the latest development, Tamil actor Chiyaan Vikram shared the first look of his son, Dhruv from his upcoming film, Varma. This is the Tamil remake of the Telugu blockbuster, Arjun Reddy. The shoot of the film started in Kathmandu, Nepal. It seems Vikram was there to oversee the first schedule. We know that he is a doting dad and wanted everything to be perfect. The movie is directed by Bala, who last directed the hard-hitting crime drama, Naachiyaar. It seems Chiyaan Vikram was insistent that the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, Varma should be directed by Bala only.

The Telugu film, Arjun Reddy had Vijay Devarakonda in the lead. It was a huge success and hailed as a landmark film for Telugu cinema. The movie was announced last November and it created huge buzz all around. While Dhruv is final, they have not yet found the heroine. Actress Shalini Pandey, who romanced Vijay Deverakonda was considered but they want a fresh face. It seems they are taking a long time to zero down on the girl. Scriptwriter Raju Murugan is writing the dialogues, while the project is bankrolled by E4 Entertainment. Arjun Reddy was seen as modern take off on the tale of Devdas. Vijay’s character was that of a brilliant surgeon who falls prey to alcoholism after suffering in love. The film’s dialogues are a hit.

It was expected that Dhruv would follow his dad in the entertainment business but people thought he would be a filmmaker. He has directed a short film called Goodnight Charlie in the past.  It dealt with child abuse in a family. Arjun Reddy was a hit and people have high hopes from Dhruv given the subject and his lineage.
