Here's what critics have to say about Tholi Prema.

With only four days to go for Valentine’s Day, Tollywood has given us a reason to fall in love with love! Tholi Prema, a heart-wrenching story on first love starring Varun Tej and Rashi Khanna has finally hit theatres. The trailer gave us a glimpse of the heartwarming story that was to come. While the movie is not touching upon an unusual theme, Varun Tej’s chemistry with Rashi Khanna makes it an anticipated film. Also the fact Varun was last seen in Fidaa, one of the biggest hits of 2017. It starred Sai Pallavi. The love story was lauded for its refreshing performances and fared phenomenally at the BO. So Has Varun struck gold with Tholi Prema too? Here’s what critics have to say:

123 Telugu is all praises for the lead pair, Varun and Rashi – Both Varun and Raashi perform exceptionally well in their roles. Varun looks good in the first half and is extremely stylish in the second. He has improved by leaps and bounds and proves that when it comes to love stories, you can’t think of anyone else but him for such roles. His character has a lot of variations and Varun showcased them beautifully. Raashi Khanna is amazing as Varsha. Perhaps it is her career best role and she nails it in every which way and showcases the actress in her. Raashi gets some very good dialogues and delivers them spot on.

Times of India  has so far found Tholi Prema an engaging ride – Ending the interval on a bang that showcases clearly just how different Adi and Varsha are, ‘Tholi Prema’ has so far been an engaging and relatable ride. It remains to be seen how the second half will fare.

Mirchi finds Tholi Prema a slick watch – Overall, Tholi Prema is a slick product. But it lacks the smooth organic flow that would make the audience fall in love. There is a neat explanation in the movie where the hero Aadhi (Varun) explains the difference between liking and loving by contrasting chocolates and heroine Varsha (Rashi Khanna), the hero likes chocolates but loves Varsha (Rashi Khanna). The point being, he would forget about chocolates after a point, but not heroine as it is love. Tholi Prema manages to reach the chocolate level of liking. It is likable for the time being, and its the Valentine Day week. The timing couldn’t have been better.

Have you watched Tholi Prema yet? With V14th February round the corner, the makers could not have found a better time to release the film.
