The Big Announcement is out! Varun Dhawan and Shashank Khaitan to work together once again for Dharma Productions' Rannbhoomi
Varun Dhawan made his debut with Dharma Production’s Student Of The Year in 2012. Six years and nine films down the line, there is no looking back for the actor. VD has delivered hits after hits, be it with Dharma or any other production house. But his association with Dharma Productions has been very special. And after giving the production house one of its biggest hits last year – Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Dharma has decided to rope in the actor for another special project. And after teasing us with a video yesterday (February 18), the big announcement is finally out. Varun Dhawan is all set to star in Shashank Khaitan’s revenge drama, Rannbhoomi.
As a source revealed to Hindustan Times, “Rannbhoomi will be Karan’s third collaboration with Varun and Shashank. The trio share a great equation and their relationship now goes beyond just that of a mentor-protégée. Varun and Shashank get along really well and although Shashank is currently busy shooting for Dhadak, he has been talking about the new film with Varun. In fact, he wrote the script of the new film with the actor in mind, as he was sure he would only work with him. Varun, too agreed almost immediately after he heard the script, as he was absolutely impressed with it. But this time, the genre moves from romance to action-drama. It’s not just an epic tale; it indulges in emotions and opulence equally, as it is at heart a love story. In essence, it is a revenge drama.”
Varun also confirmed this to the leading daily, “Shashank is not only a close friend, he’s also a filmmaker whom I have tremendous respect for. Our association has always been successful and magical, and we decided to take our alliance further and create a mammoth spectacle. Dharma is home for the both of us, and what better team than this to collaborate on a Diwali celebration? Rannbhoomi is an ambitious film with a beating heart.”
For those of you who don’t, Varun and Shashank have worked together on Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Their association has been very fruitful at the box office, so seeing them working together again is exciting! Shashank always makes Varun do something different and pushes him to the limit. He also presents the audience an entertaining film, so we can’t wait to see this one. However, we will miss Alia Bhatt, who worked with the duo everytime they made a movie. On the professional front, Varun Dhawan is currently awaiting the release of Shoojit Sircar’s October. In the meantime, he is shooting for Yash Raj Films’ Sui Dhaaga – Made In India along with Anushka Sharma. Shashank is also working on Dhadak.
