Hey Dulquer Salmaan, as you complete six years, here's what you should know....

Charming, talented, versatile, a crowd puller – These are a few of the many adjectives that could describe the heartthrob of the Malayalam industry. He began as a cliche – ‘a superstar’s son’ but in the last few years, the actor has defied the cliche and how. He is now a powerful actor whose name carries as much weight if not more. Above all, he’s absolutely adorable. We are talking about Dulquer Salman! This Malayalam star is not just defined by his talent and his film choices but by his characteristics that make him, Dulquer aka DQ. His infectious smile, the way he wears his mundu, his endearing way of wooing, his reaction to heartbreak, his style of rebelling, his reaction to failure – He has exhibited all of this and more on screen. Over the years, Dulquer Salmaan has gone from reaction to restrain. If earlier it was about proving what he could pull off, today it’s about quietly performing and leaving us with something to remember. He has gone from strength to strength and given us varied films to relish in just six years. Today on his 6th anniversary in the industry: We want to take you through some of our favourite performances of the Malayalam star:

Ustad Hotel – A social message on hunger is beautifully interwoven into a story about a boy, who dreams of being a five-star hotel Chef. As he strives to pursue his larger-than-life dreams, reality strikes and that’s when he has to make a decision on what he really wants to do in life. Apart from Thilakan’s class act and unique story, Dulquer’s performance made this film worthwhile. From being the spoilt brat to an adult who realises his real responsibilities – Dulquer’s transition was effortless.  Also, did we mention this was his second film?

Kali – When a highly likeable actor goes on to play an unpopular character, it’s bound to catch your attention. It’s no wonder, Dulquer playing a guy with anger management issues in Kali had everyone eyeing the film. Teamed with Sai Pallavi, another star performer, this film was a lesson for everyone. His temperament, his frustrations, his unpredictability made you want to hate him. Well, if that was the case – It’s a job well done, right?

Vikram Adithyan – An inspiring tale of a boy who comes out of his father’s unpleasant shadows and goes on to make it on his own! Once tagged as a thief’s son, eventually goes on to become the ACP! Dulquer is a natural as he went from playing the humiliated, helpless boy to the determined yet humble ACP! The way the story unfolds is another plus.

Bangalore Days – A favourite across multiple industries! Dulquer as Arjun is a boy anyone could fall in love with. Defiant, large-hearted, intense, and very skilled – That’s how one would describe Arjun. In this multi starrer, he stood out with little to no effort and at the same time, didn’t take over a scene that involved multiple actors.

Charlie: This movie was one of Dulquer’s most talked about films! It is a unique film that sees him play a nomad who has an unusual take on life. He is always on the move and doesn’t know what he’s going to do next! The movie won him several awards.

OK Kanmani: If this Mani Ratnam film doesn’t make you fall for him, which one will? He is the quintessential chocolate boy that has you swooning over him in every frame! We may have seen countless love stories before this, But Dulquer gives us a reason to be amazed by love again! And his chemistry with Nithya Menen can’t be really described but only sighed over! Agree?

KamatiPaadam: After playing the chocolate boy, Dulquer took a U-turn with his intense act in this gangsta film. A film based on the Dalit community’s fight against real estate owners, this dark film raved about post-release. The film also won several awards. With this film, Dulquer proved that along with talent, he also boasts of versatility.

We listed out our favourites. Which other Dulquer movie is your favourite? The actor will soon be out with his 25th project -Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal a film that also stars Ritu Varma. He will be making his Tollywood debut in Mahanti opposite Samantha and Keerthy Suresh.
