Black Panther nears the $100 million mark at the USA - Canada box office on day 1!

Marvel‘s latest offering is unique in itself and looks like it is taking over the box office across the world. Black Panther, the first black standalone superhero film, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has set the cash registers ringing ever since it released worldwide on February 16. The movie had Thursday paid previews in US and Canada, followed by the full release on Friday. And after looking at the box office collections after day one, we can say that Black Panther is off to a record breaking start. In fact, the Marvel movie is all set to breach the $100 million barrier anytime now. Talking about the detailed box office collection, trade analyst and industry tracker – Ramesh Bala revealed to us, “#BlackPanther is off to a record start at the Box office worldwide. #USA + #CAN : Thurs Previews – $25.2 million. Friday – $70 million.”

So clearly, Black Panther has raked in $95.20 million in just one day! Ain’t that fantastic? All this has been possible courtesy the huge buzz around the film, Marvel’s legacy of entertaining the audience and bringing something new to the table with every single film and also the engaging storyline. For those of you who don’t know, Black Panther revolves around T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), who returns to the technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda, to take his rightful place as the king, after the death of his father. While several factions oppose his reign, the king tries to maintain peace and order. But will he succeed? That’s something to watch out for! 

Apart from the box office, Black Panther has impressed the audience as well as the critics. Everyone has been raving about the movie and this fantastic word of mouth publicity is helping it rake in the moolah at the box office.
