Pawan Kalyan's Agnyaathavaasi is the second highest box office opener in the worldwide market after Prabhas' Baahubali 2!

Pawan Kalyan‘s Agnyaathavaasi set the American box office on fire, collecting Rs 9.50 crore in USA on day one. But that’s not the end of things! According to, the movie has collected approximately Rs 60.50 crore in the worldwide market on day one itself. This has not only helped Agnyaathavaasi break several box office records, but also become the second highest box office opener (Telugu) in the worldwide market. However, Agnyaathavaasi failed to beat the day one collection of Prabhas‘ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.

After the debacle of Sardaar Gabbar Singh and Katamarayudu, everyone was hopeful that Pawan Kalyan‘s Agnyaathavaasi would turn out to be a blockbuster. And while the movie has set the cash registers ringing across the world, it has failed to impress the critics. In fact, Agnyaathavaasi has not got good reviews from either the critics or the movie going audience. For those of you who don’t know, the movies revolves around the story of an adopted son of a billionaire, who tries to prove his legacy, while at the same time tries to avenge his father’s death. Pawan Kalyan plays the role of a software professional in the movie. Rumours suggest that it has been copied from a French film – Largo Winch, however this allegation has not been proven yet. Agnyaathavaasi could manage such a fantastic start courtesy the huge pre release buzz! Also starring Keerthy Suresh and directed by Trivikram, the film might benefit from the festive period down South (Pongal). But with competition from Nandamuri Balakrishna’s movie and suriya’s GangAgnyaathavaasi might have an average first weekend.
