Exclusive: Vijay does NOT have a double role in Thalapathy 62!

There have been two important rumours on Thalapathy 62 for the past few days. One is about Vijay playing dual roles in the film including a physically challenged character, and the other news is that the movie has been titled Kalappai (Ploughshare), a crucial instrument used for farming. However, when we got in touch with sources close to the film’s unit, this is what they had to say: “We have not finalised the title yet. Since the earlier two collaborations of Vijay and director AR Murugadoss were titled Thuppakki and Kaththi, people have made a wild guess about the title with the choice of a weapon. It’s definitely not true.”

Asked about the dual role played by Vijay, “This is also not true. Vijay is not playing the role of a physically challenged character in the film. The movie’s story will be driven by emotions and Murugadoss had said the same on a few occasions. Hence, the speculations are doing rounds,” said the source.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Thalapathy 62 marks the third collaboration of Vijay and AR Murugadoss. The team has still not finalised the lead heroine of the project, which is expected to go on floors from January 2018 post Pongal holidays. Keerthy Suresh was earlier in final talks to play the female lead, marking her second time association with Vijay after Bairavaa.

After the blockbuster success of Mersal, AR Rahman is in talks to score music for the film. An official announcement from the team is expected to be made in the next few days. DOP Girish Gangadharan of Angamaly Diaries and Kali fame is handling the cinematography of the film.
