The Khiladi of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, is one of the busiest actors in the industry. From the last two years, Akki has been on a roll, with as many as five back-to-back films of his – Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom, Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet – Ek Prem Katha entering the coveted Rs 100 crore club. The 50-year old actor has explored every possible genre through his films, which simply proves how versatile he is and can slip easily into any given character. While looking at his upcoming films’ line-up, it seems like the hit-machine is ready to enthral all of us with some out-of-the-box films.
Here’s the list of his upcoming films…
January 26, 2018 – Padman
In this biographical drama, Akshay Kumar will portray the character of Tamil Nadu-based social activist, Arunachalam Muruganantham. It will chronicle Arunachalam’s journey of finding a way to make cheap, affordable sanitary napkins for women in his village. Apart from Akshay, the film also features Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor. The film is produced by the actor’s wife, Twinkle Khanna, under her banner, Mrs Funnybones Movies, and directed by R Balki, who has previously helmed movies like Ki and Ka, Paa and Shamitabh.
April 2018 – 2.0
Akshay Kumar will be seen in a spine-chilling avatar in India’s costliest film, 2.0. He will be seen in a negative role and will lock horns with megastar, Rajinikanth, in the film. Made on a mega-budget of over Rs 400 crore, the film is helmed by Shankar. It is a sequel to 2010 blockbuster film, Enthiran (Robot).
August 15, 2018 – Gold
During the Independence Day weekend, Akshay Kumar will essay the lead role of hockey player, Balbir Singh, in the patriotic film, Gold. The film is about India’s first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year, 1948, at the 14th Olympic Games in London. Gold also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Sunny Kaushal in pivotal roles. The movie is being directed by Reema Kagti, popular for Talaash and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.
March (Holi) 2019 – Kesari
In 2019, during the Holi weekend, Akshay Kumar will star in Anurag Singh’s Kesari, which will be produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film is based on the battle of Saragarhi and will also feature Parineeti Chopra in the lead role.
October (Diwali) 2019 – Housefull 4
Akshay Kumar will make Diwali 2019 grander with Housefull 4. The fourth installment of the Housefull franchise will be directed by Sajid Khan and might star Riteish Deshmukh, John Abraham and Sanjay Dutt in key roles.
Apart from exploring these various genres, the Khiladi of box office will also star in movies like Crack, and Mogul, which is the biopic of T-Series’ owner, the late Gulshan Kumar.
