Producer confirms that 2.0 will release on 25th Jnauary, 2018.

After speculations aplenty, the final word has come from the horse’s mouth! “As of now, the release date of 2.0 is January 25. No change in that.” confirms Raju Mahalingam, the Creative Head of Lyca productions while speaking with Scroll. It seems to be more or less a confirmation. Reports suggested the team is  working round the clock to make sure the post production work is finished on time. So as of now, 2.0 is on track and is set to release on 25th January, 2018 as planned. The film will release in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. So, rajinikanth fans can heave a sigh of relief as Thalaiva’s film will not be delayed any more! 2018 is going to begin with a bang indeed. But with this annoucement, there seems to  be a clash between Akshay and Akshay!

For those who don’t know, on 29th October, akshay kumar announced the release date of his next film, Padman, 26th January, 2018. That’s what fuelled speculations of 2.0 being pushed to April 13th. But now it seems that Akshay will indeed compete against Akshay. Both characters are as different as night and day. In the sci-fi adventure, he plays Dr Richards, who takes on a eerie from because of an experiment gone wrong. Contrary to beliefs, he is not all-villain but he does exude shades of grey. He will have a face off with Rajinikanth aka Chitti. The film also stars Amy Jackson. As for Padman, he plays an ordinary superhero who pioneers mental hygiene by making available sanitary pads at a cheaper cost. The film also stars Radhika Apte, Sonam Kapoor. The film is directed by R Balki.

So, are you happy that 2.0 hasn’t been pushed or that you have two Akshay Kumar movies to choose from? Which movie are you going to watch this Jan 2018? It’s going to be quite an interesting clash between Akshay’s Tamil debut and his next Hindi project!
