Ajay Devgn‘s Golmaal Again has stunned one and all! Not only has it impressed everyone with its great content, but also its record breaking run at the box office. After raking in Rs 30.14 crore on day 1 at the domestic market, the film became the highest box office opener for Bollywood in 2017. But that’s not the end of Golmaal Again‘s achievements. Ajay’s horror comedy even managed to beat the opening day collections of Aamir Khan’s Dangal and become the 9th highest all time box office opener! Isn’t this a fantastic feat? Currently, Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year is the highest opener with a day one collection of Rs 44.97 crore. This is followed by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 41.00 crore), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs 40.35 crore), Sultan(Rs 36.54 crore), Dhoom 3 (Rs 36.22 crore), Chennai Express (Rs 33.12 crore), Ek Tha Tiger(Rs 32.93 crore), Singham Returns (Rs 32.09 crore), Golmaal Again (Rs 30.14 crore) and dangal (Rs 29.78 crore).

We always knew Golmaal Again would be a huge hit because it had a huge buzz, it enjoyed an extended holiday period, it possessed a stellar cast and the addition of the franchise factor and an engaging plot. All this along with the fact that golmaal again was released on the day after Diwali (October 20, 2017), which is generally the best day for any film, helped the movie rake in such a fantastic day one collection. In fact, our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) has predicted that the movie would collect just Rs 20 – 25 crore on day one. So quite clearly, Golmaal Again has performed beyond everyone’s expectations. 

With the film getting fantastic reviews from both the critics as well as the audience, we are sure the film will continue to grow over the weekend and post a huge number at the end of the first weekend.
