What’s with Bollywood stars and their hazing ritual that whenever they go down South they are made to wear lung in at least one function? Well, you can blame it on Shah Rukh Khan and his famous lungi dance from Chennai Express for making the traditional South attire so famous. Now Ranbir Kapoor is made to wear a lungi on stage in front of the glitter of Abu Dhabi, while Katrina Kaif cheered on. So what happened here?

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were at SIIMA Awards 2017 to promote their upcoming musical adventure movie, Jagga Jasoos, that also happened to be Ranbir’s debut production. After their media talk, they also attended the award function which was the second part of SIIMA that celebrates the winners of Tamil and Malayalam cinema of 2016. Ranbir and Katrina rubbed shoulders with the celebs there. At one point both Ranbir and Katrina were called on stage, where Ranbir even performed an impromptu jig. And then the lungi dance happened.

Apparently, it took four teachers in R Madhavan, Rana Daggubati, Nani and Nivin Pauly to teach him how to wear a lungi, or mundu, in this case, as Katrina Kaif looked and cheered on. And it looks like he nearly perfected it there. Here are the pics of their efforts…
