Anushka Sharma should thank Diljit Dosanjh for the film's glorious run in the North...
Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri has witnessed a growth of around 30 per cent on its second day, all thanks to the star power of Diljit Dosanjh in the North, mainly East Punjab and Delhi. The film has earned Rs 5.20 crore on its second day as compared to Rs 4.02 crore, the first day it earned. Talking about the film’s collection Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Phillauri is STRONG in North, the key contributor… Biz saw growth on Sat… Sun crucial… Fri 4.02 cr, Sat 5.20 cr. Total: ₹ 9.22 cr.” As we mentioned yesterday, the film is only performing in North and Anushka Sharma should thanks Diljit for that. Despite getting mixed to negative reviews, the film as performing on the levels of much bigger releases like Raees, Jolly LLB 2 and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
The two day opening of the film is better than Anushka Sharma’s previous production NH10 but that film sailed through in the long run through strong word of mouth, which is not the case here. Phillauri is expected to show similar growth on Sunday and at the end it will all boil down to Monday. The film really has to show a strong hold once the weekend ends, if it hopes to do well in a long run.

review had stated, “Phillauri has some spirited performance from its lead actors, unfortunately, the same spirit has not gone into the making of the movie. What’s started off as a promising film ends up as a boring and a tiresome hotchpotch by the end. Going by the nearly empty theatre hall where I watched the movie and the muted response the movie received at the end, I am sure #ShashiWasThere is actually scaring people away from the screens. Highly Avoidable!
