Kahaani 2 box office collection: With Befikre as its competition, can Vidya Balan film hold its own?

Kahaani 2, which had a decent opening at the box office, seems to be heading for difficult times ahead. Vidya Balan’s recent release has collected Rs 22.71 crore at the Indian box office. According to the trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has earned about 1.74 crore on Wednesday. Taran tweeted, “#Kahaani2 Fri 4.25 cr, Sat 5.79 cr, Sun 6.93 cr, Mon 2.04 cr, Tue 1.96 cr, Wed 1.74 cr. Total: ₹ 22.71 cr. India biz.” Starring Vidya Balan and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles, Kahaani 2 is a thriller that is a sequel to the 2012 film with the same title.
Just like it’s original version, Kahaani 2 has been able to gain applaud among the audience. However, the critics claim the second part of the film is predictable and could not meet expectations. What was touted as a taut thriller turned out to be stale drama when compared to its prequel Kahaani.
Earlier, the film faced a huge competition from Alia Bhatt-Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dear Zindagi but ahead is Aditya Chopra’s directorial comeback Befikre, which stars Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor. With so much hype around Befikre, Vidya’s film might see a serious fall in the terms of its box office numbers.
It seems that single screen theatres have added to BO collection of Vidya’s film. Will Befikre take away its multiplex audience too?Well, we have to wait and watch for December 9.
