Akshay Kumar visited the BSF base camp in Jammu on Tuesday to pay tribute to soldiers who have lost their lives in ceasefire violations and encounter. Addressing the army men at the venue, the actor got emotional and called them the real heroes. He said, “Fortunate that I got the opportunity to come and meet you. I have always said I’m a reel hero, you are the real hero.”

Earlier, the actor — whose father was also an army man — had donated Rs 9 lakh to the family of a martyred BSF jawan. The jawan succumbed after being targeted by Pakistani snipers in Jammu and Kashmir. This donation came days after his earlier donation of Rs 80 lakh to the army. Speaking about his action, he had said then, “They are decorated with lot of medals and that is good. But I looked at their faces. The samman was required for them but they need money too. You have to be practical. I thought how about giving them money and that is when I decided to give 5 lakhs to each family.”

During Rustom promotions, Akshay had expressed his wish to serve the nation but since destiny had some other plans, he became an actor. However, the actor had mentioned that he is fulfilling his dreams through the silver screen. On the work front, the action star of Bollywood is busy filming Toilet Ek Prem Katha with Bhumi Pednekar. He has wrapped up the shoot of Jolly LLB 2 with Huma Qureshi. His film Rustom had become one of the highest-grossing films of 2016.
