Selena Gomez broke the 100 million barrier: She became the first person in the history of Instagram to garner 100 million followers and she hasn't even posted anything on her account since August 2016.
The 23-year-old actress is currently taking a break from social media and public life because of the depression and anxiety she suffers from having Lupus. This was the last photo she posted:
Gomez was already the most followed celebrity on Instagram with 89 million followers according to a report by IANS. Another report by IANS also states that Gomez holds the record of garnering a record of 4 million-plus likes on an Instagram photo. The photograph showed Gomez wearing a red top and staring at the camera as she sipped the carbonated beverage through a striped straw. Referring to the fact that her song "Me & the rhythm" is quoted on the bottle as part of the drinks company's 'Share a Coke and a Song' campaign, Gomez captioned the post: "When your lyrics are on the bottle".
Gomez outranks fellow Instagram celebrities like Taylor Swift (91.5 million followers), Beyoncé (85.4 million followers), Ariana Grande (85.1 million followers) and Kim Kardashian (83.7 million followers).
This also gave birth to the hashtag #SelenaBreakTheInternet by her fans who celebrated her 100 million mark on Instagram who wanted the star to get over her anxiety and depression issues.
