Anushka Sharma to play journo to Ranbir Kapoor's Sanjay Dutt in biopic by Raju Hirani

Raju Hirani will collaborate with Abhijat Joshi and Ranbir Kapoor will play the titular character in the biopic.

Anushka Sharma will play a small role of a journalist in Sanjay Dutt's biopic being made by good friend Raju Hirani, with Ranbir Kapoor playing the titular character. There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the biopic ever since it was announced a few months back, with Ayan Mukherji's Dragon which also has Ranbir playing the lead role, clashing with its schedule.
The dates have been sorted now, and it has come to light that Anushka will play a scribe who chronicle Dutt's life as it progresses. The role is a cameo, and the PK actor was game for it when the makers approached her for it, as reported by a leading national daily.

There was speculation who will play Sunil Dutt, and the rumour mills were strongly suggesting Aamir Khan's name until it was learned he had backed out of the role. However, it is reliably learnt that Aamir was initially interested in playing the role of Dutt sahab.

The biopic has been in development hell, figuring out the props, the supporting cast for making a movie on the life of an actor like Sanjay Dutt, whose life is so massively documented. However, it will be interesting to see how the biopic turns out and will it bring Ranbir's . This will be Anushka-Ranbir's third collaboration after Bombay Velvet and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
