Which is your favourite Ranbir Kapoor movie?
Exactly 10 years ago from today, a charming boy entered the film industry. He already had the ladies swooning over him with his towel drop act in one of his songs, that somehow managed to be cute and sexy at the same time. Yes, can’t believe it has been 10 years since Ranbir Kapoor made his debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. The charming Kapoor boy, whose first film might not have been a memorable one, is now a name to reckon with.
ranbir went on to become a star with his next few releases. His princely looks combined with his incredible acting chops made him the poster boy of gen-next actors in Bollywood. He has sustained 10 years in the industry with a few failures and a few blockbusters. He truly has managed to live up to the image of a Bollywood hero and we hope he continues to do so. Below we list down RK’s best performances till date…
Saawariya
Wake Up Sid
A film that pretty much became the anthem for the youth to follow their dreams. Ranbir Kapoor stepped into the shoes of Sid, a rich, lost young boy who wants to show his parents that he can make a living for himself. The performance was top-notch as Ranbir made his character relatable by making him flawed but at the same time, endearing.
Raajneeti
It was evident that Ranbir could act with his first few performances. But he had not really been assigned a role where he’d go all out and make a killing. Raajneeti, by Prakash Jha, was the first film where the depths of his acting were explored. For the first time we saw an ever-so-charming guy smoke a cigarette in a dark, gloomy room and look hauntingly beautiful while at it.
Barfi!
If Raajneeti didn’t work wonders, Barfi! sure put a stamp on the fact that Ranbir Kapoor is an exceptionally talented actor. He played the titular character, that of a deaf-and-mute boy. It was a character that has immense possibility of becoming a caricature, but was carried off splendidly on his able shoulders. It has went on to become one of his best performances till date.
Tamasha
A supremely underrated performance by Ranbir. Many saw shades of Rockstar in this character, but that may just be the signature style of filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. Ranbir, we believe, gave a nuanced performance for a character with so many layers. It is not easy going from a chirpy tourist to a jilted lover, trapped in a 9 to 5 job.
Rockstar
In just one film, Ranbir managed to make the audience both laugh their hearts out and cry their eyes out with his performance. You can see Ranbir turn into an entirely different person as the narrative explored each layer of the character he played. A musician with a broken heart isn’t a new concept but the way Ranbir made the audience feel the pain was incredible. There is something about his eyes. They can pierce through your heart.
Most Beautiful Performance
Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewaani
Totally charm with this film.
Keep ’em coming, Ranbir Kapoor. We hear that the Sanjay Dutt biopic is shaping up really well. Glad because we surely are eagerly waiting for it.
