Mahanati is on a roll at the US Box office.
One of the most anticipated biopics – Mahanati finally hit theatres on May 9. Ever since, the film has been raved about by critics, fans and other celebs. To start off, Nag Ashwin, the director of the film is being applauded for his noble effort to narrate a tale of a yesteryear superstar. He has backed the story with a stellar cast – Keerthy Suresh as Savithri is a master class in session, she brings alive the iconic actress with such grace and talent. Dulquer Salmaan in his Tollywood debut has made fans, critics sit up with his portrayal of Gemini Ganesan The film also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Vijay Devarakonda, Prakash Raj in lead roles. Apart from the film garnering praise it is turning out be a commercial success as well.
At the US box office, it got off to a golden start and now within two days it has raked in $500,000! Trade experts predict the film will earn above $2million . This comes as a pleasant surprise for a biopic that is yet to cater to a large audience down south. As per reports the Telugu version raked in Rs 6 crore on its first day. The film’s Tamil version will hit theatres today.
Mahanati is based on the life of Savithri – one of the most iconic actresses of Telugu cinema. She ruled Tollywood in her time. The movie takes you back in time to be part of an emotional, inspiring tale a woman who was more than what she was branded to be. Keerthy Suresh has been flooded with praise on social media with regards to her class act as Mahanati. Critics are declaring this performance her best ever till date. The entire team is being appreciated for introducing the audience to Savithri.
