Ranbir Kapoor will next be seen in the film based on Sanjay Dutt’s life, Sanju. The first teaser of the film dropped earlier this week and fans are absolutely loving it. It has been trending on Facebook. And let us not forget the number of memes going viral on Twitter. That is not all. The teaser has also garnered over 2 lakh searches on Google, that too in less than 24 hours. On YouTube, the teaser has been trending on top ever since its release. It has managed to clock in 30 million views, which is quite a feat. Even Rajinikanth’s Kaala was not able to garner those views so quickly.
The Sanju teaser reached over 150 million viewers across the world making it an instant viral hit. In fact, it has been the most trending video on YouTube, not just in India but also across the globe. Sanju has been trending on #1 in India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bahrain, #2 in Australia and Canada, #3 in the US, #8 in Germany and #27 in Germany.
It was not easy for Ranbir to play Sanjay as he had to go through an intense transformation. But how did he prepare to play the role? Well, Ranbir revealed it all the teaser launch event. “It was really fast, as number of days weren’t much. I gave myself a month break between every phase. So there was a lot of team effort behind this. I think a year before that we did a lot of prep and screen tests, trying to give Raju sir the confidence that I can look muscular Sanjay Dutt. I usually have a very thin frame, it was hard for me to put on muscles. I can look like the Sanjay Dutt who comes out of the jail or the guy who was doing Munna Bhai. At the same time looking like young Sanjay in Rocky. That was easy because that’s how I also look,” said Ranbir when he was asked about his preparations.
In fact, you can hear it from the horse’s mouth. At the Sanju teaser launch, director Rajkumar Hirani mentioned how Sanjay found the Sanju teaser when he watched it for the first time. “I showed him a scene in the film, where RK was playing #MunnaBhai. He was quiet, I showed him again and asked if there was anything wrong. He jokingly said, ‘This isn’t good news for me.’ He was blown away,” he said. Sanjay was present at the launch for a brief period of time through a video footage. He joked, “I saw the scenes in the film and I can’t believe how Ranbir looks just like me. Raju, don’t take Ranbir in Munna Bhai."
