Baahubali 2 is ready to conquer China now.
China is all set to witness yet another bonanza this May with the release of Baahubali 2. The film will hit theatres there on May 4, 2018. Last year, Dangal had released in China on May 5 and rewrote history of Indian film releases in the country. Its unprecedented success gave many hopes that this Asian nation is the key to boost box office gains. Dangal earned more than Rs 1000 crore from China alone, which makes us believe that Baahubali 2 will be able to make the same kind of money there too. After all, the film has everything that fascinates China. Apart from great visual effects, it is essentially a story of betrayal, deceit, and love between family members. There’s a deep emotional connect in the film and China has always lapped up our emotional stories.
A few days ago, Variety had reported that the film has cleared the censor scrutiny in China and that the makers were looking for a date to release it there. Baahubali 2 massacred every record in India when it released in April last year. Its Hindi dubbed version itself earned more than Rs 500 crore… something that no Khan-laced film could ever do. It’s simply magnanimous! It has set a benchmark which will not be surpassed for many years to come, that’s because it looks impossible to earn the amount of money that each and every version of this film has earned.
Baahubali: The Beginning didn’t really set the box office on fire in China. But things have changed now. China is more invested on stories from across the border and Baahubali 2 might just be another gamechanger.
