Mahesh Babu's Spyder Earns A Whopping Rs 51 Crore At The Worldwide Box Office.

Mahesh Babu – Ar Murugadoss‘ much awaited SPYDER released on 27th September! It was a grand release in two languages – Tamil and Telugu. The film was extra special because it marked the first collaboration between the king of action movies – AR Murugadoss and the prince of Tollywood and the film marked the actor’s debut in Kollywood. Moreover, he has dubbed for the Tmail portions himself. The stylish posters, teasers and the action packed trailer created a build up enough for fans to await the release eagerly. Now post release, reports suggest the film has received negative reviews but box office figures that have just been out have a different story to tell.  According to Ramesh Bala, the film has earned a whopping Rs 51 crore at the worldwide box office! This means, SPYDER boasts of the second highest day 1 collection after Baahubali. The film has also managed to beat Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa Day 1 figures. If the film continues with its phenomenal response the movie will enter the Rs 100 crore club in two days.

The movie got off to a brilliant start at the US box officeas the premieres raked ina  whopping amount. As per figures by Ramesh Bala, the film earned Rs 7.40 crore combining the premieres and first day’s partial earnings! However, the film opened to a lukewarm response in Chennai as the movie managed to earn only Rs 64 lakhs on its first day.

The story follows the life of an intelligence spy by the name of Shiva who comes to people’s rescue by tapping on public calls. One such call results in the murder of two women. On proving further he realises an evil mastermind is at work who is set to create more havoc. It’s upto Shiva to save the city from the hands of this psychotic killer before it gets too late. Here’s also an excerpt from our review “This movie deserves a watch for the AR Murugadoss – Mahesh Babu combo. For once a director must be applauded for not letting the star supersede the story.”
