Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#BareillyKiBarfi [Week 2] Fri 1.30 cr. Total: ₹ 20.02 cr. India biz. #BKB” Although expecting an upward trend for the film at the moment doesn’t seem like it would happen. Thanks to the release of over 8 to 9 films this week, possibilities of BKB to sustain at the box office is low. However, considering how the film won over the hearts of the audience, perhaps it will surprise us, yet again!

Directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, this is her second movie that has managed to strike a chord with the audience. her directorial debut, Nil Battey Sannata, with Swara Bhaskar, was one of the best films of 2016. With a simple story, Ashwini managed to bring out the best of Swara, making Nil Battey a cult movie. Not many filmmakers are able to strike goldmine in their first film itself. However, for Ashwini, her first as well as second directorial has both been a good business. This showcases that female storytellers are also lauded by the audiences. Because for them, what matters is what the story entails and how well it has been projected. Extensive word of mouth has further added more business for BKB.

Not to forget the amount of praises raked in by Rajkummar Rao. The actor surely continues to make it a point to experiment with his roles. In Bareilly too, he was so good that for a second, the audience forgot everything about the actual love story of Ayushmann and Kriti. It’s good news for all the actors as this film can be written as one of the best of 2017.
