as expected, spider-man homecoming is off to a flying start!

When we spoke to our Trade expert, Amul Vikas Mohan, Editor Supercinema to Know What Future Holds For Spider-man Homecoming In India, he had mentioned the film opened pretty well and it will be able to post nearly Rs 6-7 crore or more as opening day figures. Turns out, he was right! According to Forbes, Spider-man Homecoming opened with best numbers this Friday. It has earned Rs 6.5 crore yesterday. If we go by Mohan’s claim that the paid preview had brought in Rs 2.25 crore for the film, the film has earned in total Rs 8.75 crore in just 2 days.

Spider-man Homecoming fell just a little short of what Spiderman 3 had earned in India way back in 2007 which is by far the highest opening day for a Spidey film in the country. It had made Rs 6.64 crore. This proves that Toby Maguire is still fresh in people’s memory and Holland will take some time to replace him in our mind. But no denying that it has emerged as the most preferred choice for the movie goers this weekend. The Spidey reboot had always been on superhero enthusiasts’ must watch list from the day it was announced. It only got fueled further when his spectacular cameo in Captain America: Civil War got loads of adulation. That set the tune for its release and turns out Indians are loving it. We anyway are superhero geeks and Spiderman is one of our favourites.

If the film continues to make the kind of money it is already doing, Spider-man Homecoming might just leave Spiderman 3 behind in its opening weekend count. The latter had brought in Rs 19.41 crore in 2007. We don’t think that will be a problem because the film has got maximum number of screens this weekend. This will again become a case of Hollywood leaving Bollywood behind.
