Your friendly neighbourhood superhero, Spiderman, has raked in a whopping Rs 41.72 crore at the Indian box office. How awesome is that? The movie, starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr, Michael Keaton and Jon Favreau seems to have webbed its way through the hearts of the audience. The Sunday collections have also helped the film tremendously. The film earned a good Rs 15.02 crore on the opening Sunday, summing up a total collection of Rs 41.72 cr. As you can see, the opening weekend numbers are quite commendable for a Hollywood film in India. The fact that it’s a superhero film not only brought together the youngsters, who can relate to it but also gave fandoms one of the best Spiderman hero. Of course, we all hold a soft spot for Tobey Maguire as the first Spiderman. But with Tom in the picture, all we can say is, “Good choice, Jon Watts!”

With this, the movie has set some new records! Spider-man: Homecoming has received the biggest ever Spider-man opening in India. In fact, India stands as the 2nd biggest opening in Asia and 7th biggest Spider-man market worldwide! More than anything, it has also created a crazy record of biggest ever standalone superhero film opening in India. So you see, the movie has done quite well in the Indian market. The film’s gross box office so far looks like this…Thursday: Rs. 3 cr (limited paid previews post 6 pm), Friday: Rs. 10.0 cr, Saturday: Rs. 13.7 cr and Sunday:Rs. 15.02 cr. Damn, those are some really good numbers for a Hollywood film.

Thanks to Spidey’s fanbase among kids and young adults, the movie managed to rake in a very good business in the international market as well. In the US, the film has notched up 257 Million USD worldwide in its opening weekend. Clearly, there’s no stopping the web slinger. The reviews for the film have been so good that it became easier for the makers to market the film. Another hit for Marvel Studios after Guardians of the Galaxy, this year. Although, the Spidey movie has also been co-produced by Sony Pictures in India. But will it be able to get through the tough Monday test? Considering how it is competing with Sridevi’s Mom, at the box office. Will it pass with flying colours
