Emma watson‘s beauty and the beast started off well at the box office when it released on March 17 and since then, it has only been growing. The movie raked in Rs 1.42 crore and Rs 2.45 crore on Friday and Saturday respectively. And on Sunday, it earned another Rs 2.80 crore, to end the first weekend on a decent note. This means that the movie has raked in Rs 6.67 crore in three days. Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh mentioned about the detailed collections when he tweeted, “#BeautyAndTheBeast witnesses growth with each passing day… Fri 1.42 cr, Sat 2.45 cr, Sun 2.80 cr. Total: Rs 6.67 cr nett. India biz.”
While this is just a decent number, Beauty And The Beast should still be applauded because it has outperformed three other Bollywood films (machine, trapped and Aa Gaya Hero) that released along with it. Machine and Aa Gaya Hero‘s chances of performing well at the box office were dented after they got dismal reviews from the audience as well as the critics. Meanwhile, Trapped got very few screens (300), so it failed to set the cash registers ringing. On the other hand, Beauty And The Beast garnered good reviews from the critics as well as the public

Though Beauty and The Beast is a classic tale, it is also a very much needed moral lesson to our glamour obsessed world, that beauty is skin deep.”
