His leading lady Sonakshi too expressed her excitement on Twitter with this post...

# Ittefaq was only the fourth film in the history of Indian cinema to feature no songs at all.

The film’s plot unravels entirely over the course of one stormy night.

# Rajesh Khanna is accused of his wife’s murder and is sent to a mental asylum. He escapes from the asylum and takes refuge in a lonely woman’s (Nanda) house, only to find another body there. He is now accused of two murders.

The original film Ittefaq itself was inspired by the 1964 Hollywood film, Signpost To Murder. However, Ittefaq was more appreciated by the critics and was a bigger success at the box office.

# Ittefaq was one of Rajesh Khanna’s 17 consecutive hits during the years 1969 and 1971

# Yash Chopra won a Filmfare award in the Best Director category for the film.

# This was Yash Chopra’s last film for his brother’s production house, BR Films. They are also one of the producers of the remake

Earlier in an interview while talking about the film, Sidharth had revealed that the story won't be same. He had said, "It's not exactly the same. The premise will be different although the gist is the same. It is still about one night but we have modified the script. Otherwise, everyone knows what it's all about and there would be no fun. All the characters here are motivated differently."

On the other hand, Sonakshi had revealed why she chose to do this movie. She was quoted saying, "The story demands the character to be played from two perspectives. I found that interesting. It's not completely black or white. It has some grey areas too, and that's what drew me towards this film."

Ittefaq is jointly produced by Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar and B.R Chopra Films.
